Grounded in Care. Guided by Growth.

Sunflower Psychotherapy and Counselling was founded on the belief that healing starts when you feel seen, safe, and understood.
Here, therapy is not just about addressing pain, it’s about rediscovering your strength, your voice, and your ability to grow.

Meet Chantelle Vaz

Hello and welcome. I’m Chantelle Vaz (She/her), Registered Psychotherapist and the founder of Sunflower Psychotherapy and Counselling.

Welcome! I’m Chantelle Vaz, a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) offering compassionate, evidence‑based psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and families across Ontario, Alberta, and BC. I believe therapy works best when you feel seen, respected, and supported, exactly as you are.

I work from a trauma‑informed, attachment‑based, and relational lens, helping clients understand how past experiences, relationships, and core beliefs shape their present‑day emotions and patterns. I utilize strength‑based and narrative‑focused therapies, meaning we honour your resilience while gently reshaping the stories that no longer serve you.

My approach is rooted in empathy, authenticity, and the belief that therapy doesn’t have to feel stiff or intimidating. Together, we’ll make sense of your story, build self-compassion (yes, even the hard parts), and work toward meaningful change that actually sticks. I draw from narrative, attachment, and emotion-focused therapies, adapting sessions to you (not a generic therapy script). The clients I support often describe our sessions as grounding, thoughtful, and empowering, with space to breathe, reflect, and sometimes even laugh. I’d be honoured to support you as you move toward greater clarity, connection, and feeling more like yourself.

My work integrates:

  • Narrative Therapy

  • Attachment‑Based Therapy

  • Trauma‑Informed Care

  • Strength‑Based Interventions

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

  • Relational and Emotion‑Focused Approaches
