We offer Anxiety Therapy in Mississauga & Online

Therapy to support you with feel more settled, more capable, and more like yourself

Anxiety can show up as racing thoughts, a tight chest, constant worry, avoiding things that matter, or a feeling that you can never fully relax. It can be exhausting to feel stuck, and it often leads people to believe something is wrong with them.

At Sunflower Psychotherapy and Counselling, we see anxiety as a signal your mind and body developed to protect you, one that has become louder or more constant than it needs to be. Together, we turn the volume down and help you get your life back.

Who this is for

Our anxiety therapy is for teens and adults who:

  • Worry constantly and struggle with switching off the racing thoughts

  • Experience panic, physical tension, or a sense of dread

  • Feel anxious in social situations, at work, or in relationships

  • Overthink decisions, replay conversations, or fear making mistakes

  • Avoid situations, people, or opportunities because of anxiety

  • Struggle with perfectionism, people-pleasing, or a harsh inner critic

  • Feel overwhelmed by stress, change, or uncertainty

  • Have trouble sleeping because of spiralling thoughts

  • Have had anxiety for as long as they can remember, or are noticing it for the first time

You don’t need a diagnosis to seek support. If anxiety is getting in the way of the life you want, that’s reason enough.

Types of Therapy We Use

Strengths-based

You already have skills, values, and resilience, and you’ve gotten through hard moments before. We begin with what’s working and build from there, rather than focusing only on what feels wrong.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

DBT provides practical tools for managing intense feelings in the moment and building lasting change. We work on skills such as:

  • Mindfulness and grounding to calm the body and mind

  • Distress tolerance for panic and overwhelming moments

  • Emotion regulation to understand and ease difficult feelings

  • Interpersonal effectiveness for boundaries, communication, and confidence

Narrative Therapy

Anxiety often comes with stories like “I’m not good enough,” “something bad will happen,” or “I can’t cope.” Narrative Therapy helps you see anxiety as a problem separate from you, so you can question those stories and write ones that reflect your strengths and values.

An Internal Family Systems (IFS)- Informed Lens

Many people notice different parts of themselves in conflict: the part that worries, the part that wants to avoid, the part that pushes for perfection.

Drawing on IFS ideas, we lean into these parts with curious, understand what they’re trying to protect you from, and help them relax so you can feel more calm and more in charge of your own life.

Solution-Focused

We keep our eyes on where you want to go. Together we identify what you want to be different, notice the times anxiety is lighter or less in control, and build on those moments with clear, achievable steps.

What to expect:

A warm, non-judgmental space: You don’t have to have the right words or explain everything perfectly.

A collaborative pace: You decide what we focus on and how quickly we move.

Tools you can use right away: Our sessions combine practical strategies with deeper reflection, so you’re building skills and understanding at the same time.

Progress you can notice: We check in regularly on what’s changing and adjust as we go.
